About Brian and Family

Brian

Brian Sloan is an experienced writer and blogger on a number of topics. He also loves marketing online and helping others to do so as well.

He has a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of North Georgia and has served at three churches since 1983.

However, his primary profession has been as a guitarist and worship leader in several churches and bands. He has also had experience in the fields of student and adult ministries plus small group development.

In April 2019 he left his previous church, Chestnut Mountain Church, a 1500-member church in North Georgia, after 20 years of service.

Brian Sloan

He is passionate about proper leadership, proper education, teaching others, songwriting, and production. You can find 10 of his original songs HERE.

Having an interest in proper education and enjoying local politics as well, he also served three 4-year terms as an elected official in Hall County, Georgia. He was on the Hall County Board of Education, Post 2 from 2007 through 2018. (See news article on Brian’s time in local government).

Family

Other than his faith in God, the most wonderful lights in his life are his wife of 30 years, Annette Rogers Sloan, his son and daughter-in-law, Brandon Sloan (29) and Abigail Grindle Sloan along with their daughter, his grandchildren, Melody, born in 2017, and Alayna, born in 2018. Brian has two beautiful daughters – Caitlin Sloan (26) and Karis Sloan (24).

He is very fortunate to still have his dad, Gary Sloan of Gainesville, Georgia. Annette’s mother still resides in Cornelia, GA and she gets to see her often. His two brothers are Scott and David Sloan along with their wives Michelle and Tia, respectively.

HERITAGE

Brian was raised by fine Christian parents with a fine Christian heritage. However, even though he did not pull away from his fairly conservative theology, he did push back on what he firmly believed were outdated methods used by churches in the early 80s when he began to be involved in various ministries.

His commitment to never stop changing and to “think differently,” trying new methodologies, and supporting the younger generation without compromising his values was made at an early age. His 30-year-long commitment is to be a leader willing to embrace proper change up until the day he dies. You can find much more of Brian’s writing on Christian topics at LivingPraying.com.
